Countdown started for Saint Barth 2012 ;-)

So, in exactly 2 months (yyyeeeesss), we will be in Saint Barth for our 10th stay there (celebrate!), our 15 years of marriage anniversary (celebrate!), and my 40 years (celebrate!).

Wow, the restaurants selection will be tough!

Villa for the first time “on the beach” (one of the few possibility on the island) ;-)

4th time at LeWeb…

…just realized that it is my 4th time at LeWeb conference (2005, 2006, 2007, 2011).

Funny to have a look back at “Les Blogs 2.0” (yes it was called in this way in 2005) with some “known faces” ;-) And … 350 participants!

Loic LeMeur!

Dropbox in Forbes

via Forbes.com

As a happy customer (50GB plan) of Dropbox since years now, I was very interested by this article in Forbes. Some insights (even if I encourage you to read the full article):

  • Dropbox has today 50 million users, one new user per second joining
  • 96% of the users pay nothing
  • 325 million files saved per day
  • Steve Jobs/Apple wanted to acquire Dropbox in 2009 for a nine-digit price
  • 2008: 9 employees. 200k customers
  • 2010: 14 employees, 2 million customers
  • Revenue 2011: $240 million, already profitable, 70 employees
  • Revenue 2012: even if they would not sign one single new customer, their sales will double
  • Dropbox started with $15k from Y Combinator
  • 1st VC round from Sequoia of $1.2 million
  • VC round in 2008, $7.2 million raised
  • VC round in August 2011, $250 million raised with a valuation of around $4 billion, VCs participating: Index Ventures (lead), Sequoia, Greylock, Benchmark, Accel, Goldman Sachs and RIT Capital Partners
  • Competitors perceived: Apple iCloud, Google Drive

Impressive story, wow…

"Perfect Pairs" photo contest

Just to inform you (hope I’m not bothering…) that I’m participating to a photo contest organized by SmugMug and BayPhotoLab with an unusual topic: "Perfect Pairs" (they are celebrating their partnership).

Have a look at the submissions (already 900!), some of them are really good.

I have submitted 3 pictures from our last Winter trip to Saint Barth in February.

I you like one of them, you can help me and vote (comment, Facebook or Twitter) after having clicked on the picture below. And if you don’t like them, just forget this post ;-)

Saint Barth Summer 2011 – Day 14

Wednesday

So, yesterday (Wednesday) was our last full day in Saint Barth, whole morning at Saline, again. Very breezy, quite a lot of seaweeds on the beach, less in the water ;-) Crazy how this evolved within 2 days!

Thursday

Today, we are flying back to France, holidays are over! Almost 24 hours of travel, brrr… We were again at Le Gaiac yesterday evening, just great moment and the right place to "close" our stay in Saint Barth.

Saint Barth Summer 2011 – Day 13

Wow, writing this post from the terrace, protected from the heavy rain showers, eating a banana ice cream from "Le Petit Deauville". So, no beach today, as we went for shopping this morning (very breezy), and had a good lunch at Le Repaire.

Open air cinema

So, back to one event on Sunday evening: we were for the first time at the Open air cinema (AJOE in Lorient), which was a great experience (movie was X-Men the Origins, in French ;-). First you have to take a chair and to choose the place where you want to put your chair, very funny (see below). The sky was enough clear – almost full moon – to see a lot of stars. I was quite disturb by this nice spectacle in the sky beside the movie itself!!

Villa nightly shots

I have also done some pictures by night from the villa in the last days. As a reminder, I took these pictures at 11pm, i.e. it was fully dark ;-)
