Saint Barth – Part XXII

Although we are back from paradise/Saint Barth, and fully jetlagged, I would like to continue for a while to publish some posts, in order to finish this “Saint Barth 2009 series”.

The last two days in St Barth were quite windy and consequently, we have decided to have a walk on the “wild” coast of St Barth. Completely different landscapes there, you should understand rapidly the reason of the name “wild” ;-)

Our first walk was around the Grand Fond Bay.

For some pictures, it looks a bit like … Ireland ;-)

A video will also follow!

Saint Barth – Part XIX

From the Do Brazil restaurant in Saint Barth, for the lunch. I don’t know so many restaurants with such kind of views on a beach (actually it is Shell Beach) ;-) Very nice people there, good food for reasonable price. Recommended by the whole family for lunch and/or dinner!

(Yes, my son is playing with his/my PSP after the ice-cream ;-)

Saint Barth – Part XIV

Surely our favorite beach in Saint Barth, Colombier Bay. You have to walk about 20’ to access the beach, with some fantastic views on the ocean. And there, a marvelous place for snorkeling! Some underwater pictures to come!

On the road…

Arriving at the beach…

On the beach…

And a small video…

Saint Barth – Part XII

Some new big panoramas (created with Panorama Factory).

  1. The first one is from the Colombier beach (8’480 x 2’728, 16.8 MB)
  2. The second one from the scenery behind the Saline beach. You can see also the small path which is arriving to the Saline beach (14’957 x 2’277, 27.9 MB)
  3. The third one is giving an overlook on the old salins of Saint Barth (5’703 x 2’365, 12.2 MB)

Saint Barth – Part IX

And today, Saline Beach, I think the largest in Saint Barth. Very nice actually, we like it a lot! Some pictures and as usual now, a video (a bit longer this time) realized with MS Windows Movie Maker. It is not Adobe Premiere for sure, but not sooo bad for a small sequence.

Saint Barth – Part VII

We had our first snorkeling session on last Wednesday but the vision was not ideal under water, as there is still a quite strong swell. Anyway, I saw my first sea-turtle in Saint Jean Bay, exactly at the same place as last year, just after the white boat in the middle of the picture below!

Bottom is at about 3-4m there. Sea-turtle was about motionless and eating some underwater herbs. The turtle was about 80cm long. It is also the first time that I see a pilot fish on top of the turtle shell!

I have quite massively adjusted the pictures (contrast, color and saturation). The pictures are a bit pixelated but still from far better as I have thought!

Camera: Canon IXUS 700 with a Canon waterproof case (WP-DC70).

Bigger resolution available on smugmug, just click on the pictures!

Saint Barth – Part V

Some fantastic panoramic views from the terrace of our (rented) villa in Saint Barth. These panoramic pictures are based on 5 to 7 pictures and are stitched with The Panorama Factory (v3.4).

Be careful, the original versions are quite big:

  • 8.1 MB, 6’976×1’708
  • 12.4 MB, 7’773×2’043
  • 11.3 MB, 8’383×1’990

Not so bad, as I didn’t use any tripod…
