NEWS: Tera Computing

I published in March 2004 an article about “Tera Computing” and the incredible increase in requested volume of digital data. Some new inputs concerning this topic:

  • Ofoto, a Kodak company, has more than 13 million client, for 450 million pictures saved on their servers. They have to add weekly (!) 5 TB disk space for the integration of 5 million new pictures (still weekly).
  • In Europe, 18 million digital cameras were sold in 2003, 29 million are planned for 2004
